O Timothy, guard that which is committed unto `thee', turning away from the profane babblings and oppositions of the knowledge which is falsely so called;

O Timothy, guard {and} keep the deposit entrusted [to you]! Turn away from the irreverent babble {and} godless chatter, with the vain {and} empty {and} worldly phrases, and the subtleties {and} the contradictions in what is falsely called knowledge {and} spiritual illumination.

Timothy, guard what God has placed in your care! Don't pay any attention to that godless and stupid talk that sounds smart but really isn't.
