sermonette: Our Call to Courage
From Fear to Courage
Clyde Finklea
Given 22-Jan-05; Tape #702s; 16 minutes
Description: (hide)
Clyde Finklea, focusing upon the topic of fear (especially man's fear of other men) reminds us that we have all have been called to a life of courage. The Bible provides many examples of individuals who have compromised because of fear of other men, including Abraham and Peter. As Paul warned Timothy against a spirit of timidity and God counseled Joshua to be strong and courageous, we must also conduct ourselves with the same constant degree of alertness and boldness, displacing our fears with faith (in the knowledge that God is continually with us) and love (God's love perfected in us) as we pursue our calling with courage. Our calling is to boldness and courage rather than fear and timidity.
