passover: Passover Service 2004

Complete Passover Service conducted in 2004
John W. Ritenbaugh
Given 04-Apr-04; Sermon #PS2004; 57 minutes

Description: (hide)

The death and sacrifice of Christ accomplished: (1) the forgiveness of our sins, (2) the removal of the death penalty, and (3) making us acceptable to God, enabling us to embark on an exciting spiritual journey leading to glorification as members of His very family. By partaking of this special meal, of which Christ is the host, the officiating Priest, as well as the sacrifice, we become reconciled with God and with the other members of Christ's Body, repairing the horrible breach caused by our sins. The components of this service, typical of Passover services under the New Covenant, include (1) the preparatory foot washing service ( typifying our need to emulate our Elder Brother taking on the role of a humble servant), (2) the breaking of bread ( symbolizing the suffering and beating Christ underwent so that we can again have fellowship and communion in His Body), and (3) the partaking of wine (symbolizing Christ's shed blood, covering our sins, allowing us to become sanctified so that we can attain Eternal Life) After the singing of a hymn, the service concludes.
