commentary: A Memorial to Our Culture
Absolving Artists With Their Art
Richard T. Ritenbaugh
Given 11-Jul-09; Tape #947c; 11 minutes
Description: (hide)
Richard Ritenbaugh reflects on the hype of the Michael Jackson memorial viewed by more people than both Ronald Reagan and Pricess Diana"s memorials. The whole memorial service seemed to have been an attempt on the part of Michael Jackson"s handlers to re-habilitate "Whacko-Jacko," an accused child molester and drug abuser, transforming him from a pervert into a saint. Brent Bozell suggests that the sorry event indicates the extent to which pop culture has destroyed or deteriorated the mores and values of our society.
