Commentaries:
These verses do not mean that God will alter the time of Christ's scheduled return, but that just as He planned originally, He will intervene at the very moment humanity would otherwise destroy itself. By His scheduled intervention, He will cut short the days of man's rule over man, which would otherwise lead to the destruction of all human life.
