And they all with one `consent' began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a field, and I must needs go out and see it; I pray thee have me excused.

Amplified® Bible
But they all alike began to make excuses {and} to beg off. The first said to him, I have bought a piece of land, and I have to go out and see it; I beg you, have me excused.

Darby English Version
And all began, without exception, to excuse themselves. The first said to him, I have bought land, and I must go out and see it; I pray thee hold me for excused.

International Standard Version
Every single one of them began asking to be excused. The first said to him, 'I bought a field, and I need to go out and inspect it. Please excuse me.'

King James Version
And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.
