And there was much murmuring among the multitudes concerning him: some said, He is a good man; others said, Not so, but he leadeth the multitude astray.

Amplified® Bible
And there was among the mass of the people much whispered discussion {and} hot disputing about Him. Some were saying, He is good! [He is a good Man!] Others said, No, He misleads {and} deceives the people [gives them false ideas]!

Darby English Version
And there was much murmuring concerning him among the crowds. Some said, He is [a] good [man]; others said, No; but he deceives the crowd.

International Standard Version
And there was a great deal of discussion about him among the crowds. Some were saying, "He is a good man," while others were saying, "No, he is deceiving the crowd!"

King James Version
And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people.

Young's Literal Translation
and there was much murmuring about him among the multitudes, some indeed said -- `He is good;' and others said, `No, but he leadeth astray the multitude;'
