for the Lord will execute `his' word upon the earth, finishing it and cutting it short.

Amplified® Bible
For the Lord will execute His sentence upon the earth [He will conclude and close His account with men completely and without delay], rigorously cutting it short in His justice.

Darby English Version
for [he] is bringing the matter to an end, and [cutting [it] short in righteousness; because] a cutting short of the matter will [the] Lord accomplish upon the earth.

International Standard Version
For the Lord will carry out his plan and shorten it in righteousness, because he will carry out his plan on the earth decisively."

King James Version
For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.

Young's Literal Translation
for a matter He is finishing, and is cutting short in righteousness, because a matter cut short will the Lord do upon the land.
