American Standard Version
What then? that which Israel seeketh for, that he obtained not; but the election obtained it, and the rest were hardened:

Amplified® Bible
What then [shall we conclude]? Israel failed to obtain what it sought [God's favor by obedience to the Law]. Only the elect (those chosen few) obtained it, while the rest of them became callously indifferent (blinded, hardened, and made insensible to it).

Darby English Version
What [is it] then? What Israel seeks for, that he has not obtained; but the election has obtained, and the rest have been blinded,

International Standard Version
What, then, does this mean? It means that Israel failed to obtain what it was striving for, but those who were chosen obtained it. However, the rest were hardened.

King James Version
What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded.

Young's Literal Translation
What then? What Israel doth seek after, this it did not obtain, and the chosen did obtain, and the rest were hardened,
