We were made a heritage (eklhrwqhmen). First aorist passive of klhrow, an old word, to assign by lot (klhrov), to make a klhrov or heritage. So in LXX and papyri. Only time in N.T., though prosklhrow once also (Acts 17:4).
Purpose (proqesin). Common substantive from protiqhmi, a setting before as in Acts 11:23; Acts 27:13.
