For therein the elders had witness borne to them.

For by [faith--trust and holy fervor born of faith] the men of old had divine testimony borne to them {and} obtained a good report.

For in [the power of] this the elders have obtained testimony.

For by it our ancestors won approval.

For by it the elders obtained a good report.
