But if ye have bitter jealousy and faction in your heart, glory not and lie not against the truth.

But if you have bitter jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry, selfish ambition) in your hearts, do not pride yourselves on it and thus be in defiance of {and} false to the Truth.

Darby English Version
but if ye have bitter emulation and strife in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.

International Standard Version
But if you have bitter jealousy and rivalry in your hearts, stop boasting and lying against the truth.

King James Version
But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

and if bitter zeal ye have, and rivalry in your heart, glory not, nor lie against the truth;
