the Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment unto the day of judgment;

Now if [all these things are true, then be sure] the Lord knows how to rescue the godly out of temptations {and} trials, and how to keep the ungodly under chastisement until the day of judgment {and} doom,

Darby English Version
[the] Lord knows [how] to deliver the godly out of trial, and to keep [the] unjust to [the] day of judgment [to be] punished;

International Standard Version
then the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials and to hold unrighteous people for punishment on the day of judgment,

The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
