2 Samuel 15:24-25

We see here David's faith in God. He does not presume that God would bring him back, nor does he have superstitious ideas that somehow he would win, just because the Ark—this holiest of all items in the nation—was with him. No, David's faith is in God, and he knows that God would make the right decision. Would He bring David back, or would He replace David with his son, Absalom? David, in faith, lets God decide which way it would be.

This is the best approach. David says the Ark should be where God said it is to be—in the place where He has placed His name, not where David, in his anxiety, might feel justified to move it. Here is a man of real faith.
