Subject: God's Continuous Involvement in Our Lives
Summary: John Ritenbaugh warns us never to entertain the idea that somehow, in the course of our calling and sanctification process, we are carrying the load?that if we did not do what we do, we would not be saved. God's involvement in our lives, as in Israel's, is continuous?actually on a moment-to-moment basis. Our essential responsibility is to yield to him, allowing Him to subdue us to His will and purpose. We know that we cannot save ourselves from the penalty of death, but when God opens the way to save us, we must be ready to make His salvation practical and operational much as a student works out an arithmetic problem to its logical conclusion. If we want to become "one" with Him, we need to move in the direction He is pointing. Wherever our walk is taking us, God gives us both the will and the power to do it. His purpose is to draw us into a "oneness" with Him, a process that has already begun, and is affected by our yielding to Him through the power of His Spirit.
