Jesus Christ as the Creator of the Sabbath

Mark 2:27-28  (Go to this verse :: Verse pop-up) Jesus Christ is Lord of the Sabbath because He made it (Colossians 1:13-16)! He was the Lord of the Old Testament and the actual Creator of all things. By ceasing to work on the seventh day of creation week, Christ set apart that 24-hour period and every seventh day afterward for a special and holy use. (The Sabbath begins at sunset, in the evening, at the close of the sixth day, and ends at sunset, in the evening, at the close of the seventh day. See Leviticus 23:32 for an example of when God begins and ends days.) Why Christians Should Keep God's Holy Days

Luke 4:16  (Go to this verse :: Verse pop-up) Jesus regularly attended religious services on the Sabbath day. He obeyed His own command to meet for worship services every Sabbath (Leviticus 23:3). This is the day He would naturally observe, because He is the One who made the Sabbath and ordained that it be kept holy! Why Christians Should Keep God's Holy Days

Colossians 1:13-17  (Go to this verse :: Verse pop-up) Jesus Christ is not only our Savior but also our Creator. He is the subject of the powerful description in Isaiah 40:9-18, and it is into His Kingdom we have been translated, meaning conveyed or transferred. Paul must mean that this translation is spiritual because God's Kingdom has not yet literally been established on earth. God "calls those things which do not exist as though they did" (Romans 4:17). We are to conduct our lives and represent God before the world as though we were literally a part of it even now. Philippians 3:20 reinforces this: "For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ." The Kingdom of God is still in heaven and will be established on earth at Christ's return. However, we are already considered its citizens.
